5th International Silent Film Festival Manila.
August.21.2011Now in its fifth year, the Goethe-Institut Philipinen, the Japan Foundation, Manila, Instituto Cervantes, the Embassy of Italy and together this year with the Embassy of Greece, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Philippines and the Society of Filipino Archivists for Film present the 5th International Silent Film Festival Manila. (Facebook Event)
As the only Silent Film Festival in South East Asia, the International Silent Film Festival Manila presents these films in the same manner befitting their stature as an indispensible artefact of the human experience. All films are screened in their original formats and accompanied by live performances from contemporary Filipino artists. In the artistic tradition of self-sustenance through self-reference, these performances refamiliarize audiences with their cinematic past and continue to showcase the glamour, wonder and spirit of entertainment that has allowed this medium to endure and evolve into something much greater than itself.
