80’s remakes and such.

November.5.2009

a scene from the film, little shop of horrors

I was browsing FLS and something caught my eye.

If you’re an 80’s kid like me, you’re probably familiar with the film, Three Men and a Baby, and its sequel, Three Men and a Lady. It was a hit back then. With its synopsis, having three fathers with one daughter is a sure fire way of bringing in the family and teaching your child that what he or she is watching is impossible in real life; that there is only one mama and one papa in a family.

Well that was the 80’s. Fun-filled memories.

Then, it gave me the idea to google remakes + 80’s films. And boy did I find a lot of articles about it.

There were articles that some of the 80’s films are saved and some aren’t.

And for us viewers, we really cannot do anything about it. I mean the number of films being remade is quite a handful. There’s Footloose, Short Ciruit, Masters Of The Universe, The Warriors, and Robocop.

It is not bad to do remakes but for me it would be better if the remakes were just transformed to sequels. At least the original movie is saved somehow.

We shouldn’t be fully pessimistic about it. Remember Hairspray? The remake was a success.

So, what’s my stand? Well, let’s wait for their remake because we can’t do anything about it. We have to face the reality that scriptwriters are running out of ideas, sadly. And hope for the best.
