Targs says: Today’s Most Overpaid Stars.

This is an interesting factual article provided by the Forbes people. They have listed down the present Hollywood’s Most Overpaid Stars. In fact, the American movie world was quite interesting. The top grossing films of 2008, worldwide based, are:

1. The Dark Knight
2. Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull
3. Kung Fu Panda
4. Hancock
5. Mamma Mia!
6. Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
7. Quantum Of Solace
8. Iron Man
10. The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian

If you’re going to check out the “dependable” actors in the list above, you can pick out Harrison Ford and Meryl Streep only. I mean most of the actors in those films are just either new, existing from the last five years, or not-much-of-a-hit actors. And to add, three of them are animated and the rest are actually family friendly save for The Dark Knight and Quantum Of Solace that use time-dependent franchises.

You may say that Will Smith got away with it, but not really, Seven Pounds was shown and it sucked big time. Even though that Tom Cruise’s Valkyrie came out as a hit, his Lions for Lambs sucked big time in the box office. And Will Ferrell was really good in Step Brothers but Land Of The Lost was really lost in the box office arena.

Even now, the current list of top-grossing films:

1. Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince
2. Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs
3. Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen
4. Up
5. Angels & Demons
6. The Hangover
7. 2012
8. Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian
9. Star Trek
10. Monsters Vs. Aliens

With New Moon not yet included and if we’re going to check out the list, I can only see Tom Hanks as the ‘dependable’ one. Most of the films are family friendly with The Hangover sliding in at the middle unnoticed.

Zdonk.com gave quite an interesting point of view on why overpaid actors should be locked up.

But for me, I do hope these so-called stars do it for the sake of art. I mean, they really don’t need much money anyway, right? They’ve been there and they should at least lessen their asking price.

I still want to see a dancing crazy officer in Tropic Thunder, a drug-dependent addict in Trainspotting and a loony racecar driver in Talladega Nights.
